James Ford was born on 5 July 1778 at Fairfax, Virginia. He was the son of Edward Ford and Elizabeth Keith.1
James Ford married Ann Newton, daughter of William Newton and Elizabeth Field, on 22 December 1811 at Bourbon County, Kentucky. He was 33 at the time.1 James Ford participated in military service in the War of 1812.1
James Ford died on 5 October 1856 at Bourbon County, Kentucky, at age 78. James was survived by his wife, Ann Newton. James was survived by his children Pauline Newton Ford.
