(?), on 17 December 1872 at Concord United Methodist Church, 16703 Walkers Mill Road, Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia, 23882. She was 19 at the time. Her parents were listed as John E. Stewart and Susan G.P. Bolling. His parents were listed as John W. Chappell and Susan H. (?). Age of Husband: 33. Age of Wife: 18. Places of birth: Sussex County. In the year of our Load 1888, I, John E Stewart of the County of Sussex & State of Virginia, considering the uncertainties of life & being desirous of making certain provisions for my Wife Susann B Stewart while she lives & to my children do declare this to be my last Will & Testament revoking all other Wills.
1st I leave to my Wife Susann B Stewart at my death all my property of every description so long as she lives. At her death to be divided among my children as follows
2nd I give to my Daughter Nannie B Chappell two hundred (200) acres of Land lying South of Green Church Road the place she now lives at; at this time, or any other Land or property that may come to her from my Estate. Free from any Claims right or control whatever of her Husband John T Chappell.
3rd I give to my Daughter Mattie E Stewart two hundred (200) acres of land lying North of Green Church Road, the place I am now living at. At her death if dying without a lawful heir of her body to go to my Daughter Nannie B Chappell. I leave my Daughter Nannie B Chappell Guardian for my Daughter Mattie without security.
4th The remainder of my Land I give to my three sons (page 2 begins) W Y (Z?) Stewart, E. H. Stewart, & C. R (P?) Stewart provided there is not more than one hundred (100) acres apiece. If there is more than one hundred (100) acres apiece the remainder to be equally divided among all my children.
In Witness whereof I have hereto subscribed my name affixed my seal the 7th of March 1888.

If my Daughter Mattie survives my Daughter Nannie B Chappell at her death the Land I leave her is to be equally divided between my sons and my daughter Nannie B Chappell’s children, one fourth which will be their mother’s part, free from the Claims of their Father John T Chappell. Now if my daughter Mattie E Stewart survives my Daughter Nannie B Chappell die leaving no lawful heir of the body, it is to be divided as ablve. If no, it is left according to my will.

Chappell, Charles Richard Chappell, Edward Harvey Chappell, Andrew Fletcher Chappell and Willie Ambler Chappell Sr., her daughter, Nanie Chappell and Laura B Chappell. Charles Randolph Stewart, Susan G P Bolling Stewart, Dora J Mitchell and John Robert Chappell Sr was listed as a neighbor. She was listed as Nanny B Chappell, born July 1853 in Virginia, age 41, widowed. She was listed being the mother of nine children, with all still living. Her occupation was farmer.1

Susan (Nannie) Bolling Stewart Chappell died on 8 December 1929 at Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia, at age 76 at 4:10 pm. She was listed as age 76, widowed. She was born in Sussex County and her father was John Stewart and her mother was Susan Bolling (born Lunenburg County, Virginia). The informant was M. B. Chppell of Jarratt, Virginia. Her dotor was F. F. Jarratt, of Jarratt, Virginia. Susan was survived by her children John Robert Chappell Sr, Edward Harvey Chappell, Andrew Fletcher Chappell, Nanie Chappell, Laura B Chappell and Willie Ambler Chappell Sr.22 She was buried after 8 December 1929 in the Chappell-Poole-Stewart Family Farm Cemetery, located at 4117 Stewart Road, Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia. The undertaker was A. W. Hall & Brs., Emporia, Virginia. The burial place is assumed based on the family customs. Her gravesite has no headstone.22
