Edward Finch Garthright Sr left a will 15 May 1885 on 15 May 1885. Mentioned in the county documents were Mary C. Garthright, his daughte.r Mary Eppes received $76.04 for her share of his estate.7
In 1891,John Temple Eppes lived at 118 North 20th Street, Richmond, Virginia. Also living in the house were Mary C Garthright Eppes. She was listed in the city directory as running a boarding house.8
Her husband, John Temple Eppes, died on 3 July 1898 at Allen's Siding, Henrico County, Virginia, Allen's Siding is where the train passed by, near the airport and on the way to the mill.
Mitchell was a mill owner and his son married a Turner.

Mary C Garthright Eppes died on 23 February 1899 at 426 Lincoln Street, Portsmouth, Virginia, from pneumonia. Mary was survived by her children, John Ganaway Eppes, Edward Mitchell Eppes Sr, Temple Carter Eppes, and Nancy Allen Eppes Davis.10,9
On 24 February 1899, Mary's obituary appeared in the newspaper in Portsmouth, Virginia. It listed Nancy Allen Eppes, John Ganaway Eppes, Temple Carter Eppes and Edward Mitchell Eppes Sr as surviving her.10

"Death of a Richmond Lady" Mrs. Mary C. Eppes, of Richmond, died yesterday afternoon in this city from the effect of pneumonia contracted three weeks ago. She was visiting at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. W. L. Davis, 426 Lincoln Street. Mrs. Eppes was in the 69th year of her age, and leaves four children, Mrs. Davis being the only daughter. The other children are John J. and Temple C. Eppes, of Gladstone, VA, and Edward M. Eppes, of Richmond.
Mrs. Eppes' funeral was held at 1 o'clock this afternoon from the residence, the Rev. Dr. Fisher, of the Fourth Street Baptist Church, officiating. The interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery.
